Since our foundation, and predominantly through our successful weekly Jack of Clubs draw, we have been able to donate, and contribute funds not only to the club directly (£10247), but also the wider North Shields Athletic organisation (£1185) and other, local grassroots football clubs (£400)
We have also been able to donate a total of £1612.75 to a variety of local charitable causes and this is a sum that we would like to increase while continuing to support our primary cause.
We therefore have two proposals for you to consider.
If both are approved by our membership, this would increase the percentage of funds donated to charities since our foundation from 11.16% to 16.92%.
Proposal 1.
Many of you will be aware of the good work that YMCA North Shields does in our local community.
Among the many events they hold throughout the year, the ‘Picnic in the Park’, held in Northumberland Square, gives the community the opportunity to come together and celebrate with free, family friendly events, activities, entertainment, dancing and live music.
This will be the 4th year the event has been held and INSSA were recently made aware of an appeal by YMCA North Shields to raise funds to secure the ability to continue to provide stage, audio and safety equipment for performers.
In a town with an already rich musical heritage, the stage offers young people the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience, with the support of professional personnel and equipment, giving them valuable experience and helping build confidence.
YMCA North Shields are determined to try and ensure that this, and future events are free to attend but professional staging, sound engineering, and safety equipment are their biggest costs.
The INSSA committee would like to propose a donation to their 'Fund a Stage' appeal.
Our proposal is that we make a donation of £1000
This would be split between this year's event on Saturday 6th of June 2026 and next year's event on a date to be confirmed.
We would then review our involvement thereafter.
We strongly feel that this donation aligns with INSSA’s aims and would go some way to giving opportunity to young, local musicians, go some way to ensuring the event remains free for the community to attend and would raise the profile of our association and therefore that of the club.
You can read more about the appeal at the link below where you can also make a personal donation to the fund should you wish.
Proposal 2.
NE Hearts with Goals is an organisation we’ve been delighted to partner with previously.
Sudden cardiac arrest is the UK’s biggest killer which sadly includes 15 young people per week. They place lifesaving defibrillators into public places such as schools, colleges and sports clubs while also raising awareness of the importance of CPR (CardioPulmonary Resuscitation)
You can find out more about them here https://www.nehwg.co.uk/#welcome
The INSSA committee would like to propose a donation to our already established charitable partner, NE Hearts with Goals.
Our proposal is that we make a donation of £500
If approved, the funds will go towards the installation of a brand new defibrillator (AED) in the North Shields area and will reaffirm INSSA's commitment to public health awareness.
The document is a message from the INSSA Committee asking members to vote on two donation proposals, building on funds raised mainly through the weekly “Jack of Clubs” draw.
Funding to date: INSSA has donated £10,247 to the club, £1,185 to the wider North Shields Athletic organisation, £400 to other local grassroots clubs, and £1,612.75 to local charities.
Aim: Increase charitable giving while still supporting the primary cause. If both proposals pass, the share of funds donated to charities since formation would rise from 11.16% to 16.92%.
Proposal 1 (YMCA North Shields – “Fund a Stage”):
Donate £1,000 to support the YMCA’s “Picnic in the Park” event in Northumberland Square, helping cover stage, audio, and safety costs to keep the event free and provide performance opportunities for young local musicians.
The £1,000 would be split across 2026 (Sat 6 June 2026) and 2027 (date TBC), then reviewed afterward.
Proposal 2 (NE Hearts with Goals):
Donate £500 to help fund a new defibrillator (AED) installation in the North Shields area, reinforcing INSSA’s commitment to public health and CPR awareness.
Yours sincerely,
The INSSA Committee
